None of the Instagram food trends weren’t as cool as Galaxy donuts! you know why? Did you ever think you will get to be the creator of your own universe? Now I get to eat edible pieces of galaxies on my kitchen table. How cool is that? These doughnuts are literally out of the world. The result is fabulous but to be honest with you it is not a hard recipe to make. You just need to swirl the colorful glaze and add some edible glitter and voila! You are the mother of galaxies. Without further ado let’s get started and in 25 mins of time you will send your loved once over the moon.

INGREDIENTS

6 plain doughnuts
1/2 cup milk (125 ml)
4 ½ cups icing sugar
2 tbsp. butter
Food colouring gel in Purple, black, pink and blue
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Food-grade edible glitter (silver)

HOW TO MAKE

Get a large bowl and add icing sugar, milk, coconut oil and vanilla extract and whisk them all together until you get a smooth and silky texture. The icing should be in a thick liquid texture and if your icing turns out to be drippy add more icing sugar until you get the desired thick texture. Add 2 drops of purple food colouring to the icing and mix it well. Now add 1 to 2 drops of black pink and blue colours and just swirl the top of the icing a few times with a skewer.

Now get your doughnuts ready and dip a doughnut on one side into the icing, let the excessive icing drip off for a moment before turning it over and placing it icing-side up on a wire rack set over a baking sheet. Continue the process with the remaining doughnuts. As the food colouring drops become messy scoop out the top layer of icing and add new colour combinations as per your wish. You will probably get 2 dips out of each swirl.
In the end sprinkle the edible silver glitter on your doughnuts and let it dry. Enjoy your galaxy donuts!
