Katherine Sabbath: From high school teacher to Insta-famous cake star

From beginning as a high school teacher, Katherine Sabbath is now a world-famous baker whose eclectic style and passion for creativity has led her to become one of the most sought-after birthday cake extraordinaires.

Self-confessed bake-aholic, Katherine has always enjoyed mixing the batter, rolling dough, piping icing and sprinkling final touches to her creations. Taking her passion online, she joined Instagram in 2013. Little did she know that five years later she would have attracted a following of more than 450k people around the world, have a guest appearance on Master Chef and a fabulous pop-up cookbook.

Within two years of the unexpected success, Katherine moved on from high school teaching to become a full-time cake-baking superstar. As well as creating masterpieces and sharing them online with her huge following, Katherine runs hands-on workshops, demonstrations and collaborates with brands through creative partnerships to share her knowledge with home bakers and her cake-crazy community.

With an Instagram page bursting with bright, funky and unique cake designs – from a Palm Springs inspired birthday cake, to cake-nuts, layered rainbow cakes, and pom-pom inspired wedding cakes – Katherine has every cake creation covered.

With hundreds of thousands of followers all wondering just how she makes these marvellous masterpieces, Katherine launched her very first crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter in 2016 to raise funds for her debut cookbook.

Following the success of the crowdfunding, ‘Katherine Sabbath – Greatest Hits’ was brought to life. The cookbook not only shows her most iconic cakes with recipes to match, but it’s a pop-up too! Flicking through each page you’ll find a step-by-step guide and a paper pop up of how each recipe will look once you’ve finished – a first for the cake-baking industry.

Demonstrating some of her all-time favourite recipes and giving away some of her top tips, Katherine will be bringing her contagious energy and passion for baking to Cake Bake & Sweets Show this November.
